HaiQi 2MW Biomass Pyrolysis Power Generation Plant in Malaysia
To promote the resource utilization of agricultural waste, HaiQi partnered with a local company in Malaysia to develop and construct a 2MW biomass pyrolysis power project. Located in a region rich in agricultural and forestry resources, this project aims to address local challenges related to organic waste disposal, clean energy supply, and carbon emissions reduction.
The system primarily uses wood waste, empty fruit bunches (EFB) from oil palms, and other agricultural and forestry residues as feedstock. Through HaiQi's advanced high-temperature pyrolysis and gasification technology, these biomass materials are converted into high-quality syngas, which is then used to generate electricity via internal combustion engines. The system processes up to 160 tons of biomass daily and continuously outputs 2MW of electricity, which can be connected to the grid or used locally to support stable power consumption.

In addition to electricity, this set of biomass pyrolysis plant also produces three valuable by-products: biochar, wood vinegar, and wood tar. Rich in carbon and featuring a highly porous structure, the biochar can be used for soil improvement, increased crop yields, and long-term carbon sequestration — making it a critical component for achieving negative emissions. Wood vinegar can serve as a natural plant disease suppressant and growth promoter in agriculture, while wood tar finds applications in anti-corrosion, industrial use, or as fuel. The development of these by-products not only improves overall resource efficiency but also creates additional revenue streams. It is estimated that the return on investment (ROI) for this project is approximately 5 years.
