HaiQi Group, a global leader in biomass pyrolysis and carbon removal technologies, is proud to announce the formation of a long-term strategic partnership with FLS Group, a developer specializing in sustainable forestry and carbon asset management. The two companies will collaborate on multiple large-scale decarbonization projects in Paraguay, focusing on the production of biochar, biocoke, and activated carbon.

High-Integrity Carbon Removal

As global standards for carbon removal projects become increasingly stringent, the HaiQi–FLS partnership is built upon comprehensive, end-to-end quality assurance systems from the very beginning. These are designed to ensure that all generated carbon credits are measurable, verifiable, and durable—fully aligned with the rising demand for high-integrity carbon removal solutions in Europe and North America.

Giovanni Marastoni, Head of Analytics at FLS, emphasized the importance of choosing the right technology for such projects: "Many biochar and biocoke ventures fail because of substandard equipment. The integrity of carbon credits and the consistency required for biocoke production depend heavily on machinery quality. Low-cost systems often underperform or fail entirely. After nearly two years of rigorous due diligence and global site assessments, we're confident that HaiQi delivers unmatched performance and reliability."

Key Areas of Cooperation

FLS is a global leader in sustainable forestry and decarbonization initiatives, with deep expertise in forest management and carbon project development. HaiQi Group is a pioneer in biomass pyrolysis and gasification technologies and a recognized biochar CDR technology partner of the world-leading carbon removal certification platform, Puro.earth.

Under the agreement, FLS will lead project development, financing, and operations, while HaiQi will supply core pyrolysis and gasification technology, along with ongoing maintenance and system optimization. Both parties have agreed to work exclusively with one another in Paraguay's biomass pyrolysis sector during the cooperation period, aiming to build a sustainable industrial ecosystem in the region.

HaiQi CEO Steven Su underscored the shared vision: "This alliance reflects our mutual dedication to delivering scalable and credible decarbonization solutions. As demand rises for biocarbon products and high-integrity carbon removals, we are well-positioned to serve these markets while contributing clean, renewable energy to Paraguay's national grid."

Alessandro Materni, Managing Partner at FLS, highlighted the partnership's broad potential: "This initiative supports four of Paraguay's strategic national goals—providing a stable offtake route for the forestry sector, enabling long-term carbon removal, generating clean energy, and creating substantial employment. We see biomass pyrolysis becoming a foundational pillar of Paraguay's green industrial economy, driving regional growth, sustainability, and innovation."

This partnership also marks a significant progress in HaiQi's expansion into the Latin American market. In addition to transferring technology, HaiQi aims to deliver holistic decarbonization solutions to the region through the combined power of renewable energy, biochar carbon sequestration, soil enhancement, and verified carbon credits.
